"Abortion Opponents Rally at Fresno City Hall"

Fresno, CA – On September 23, Fresno area pro-life advocates will join together with people of faith and conscience across the nation to kick off this fall’s 40 Days for Life campaign. Local participants will mark the occasion with a press conference in front of Fresno City Hall at 5:00 p.m. This will be the second consecutive year that Right to Life of Central California has hosted the 40 Days for Life campaign in Fresno.

40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and 40 days of grassroots educational outreach. The Fresno 40 Days prayer vigil will take place outside of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, located at 650 N. Fulton Street in Fresno for 12 hours each day from September 23 through November 1.

“We saw up to 60 women choose life for their unborn child during last year’s prayer vigil,” said Josh Brahm, spokesperson for the Fresno 40 Days for Life campaign. “I look forward to seeing how many women we can help again this year, by offering them the kind of tangible support they need to get through what is sometimes the most difficult time in their life.”

Speakers at the 40 Days for Life kickoff event include Walter Hoye, the president and founder of the Issues4Life Foundation and author of the book “Leadership from the Inside Out.” Hoye recently made national news when he was unjustly jailed for his peaceful defense of the unborn on a sidewalk outside an abortion clinic in Oakland, California. He has served as an incredible leader for the cause of the unborn despite the high personal costs.

Everyone who attends a 40 Days for Life vigil is required to sign a “Statement of Peace.” Event organizers made their nonviolent philosophy explicit from the beginning to curb any potential problems and disprove false depictions of the pro-life movement as violent or extremist.
